Abstract

A compact dual-band 8 × 8 multi-input multi-output (MIMO) antenna array for a 5G mobile communication device is proposed to have sub-6GHz operation. The impedance bandwidths across the operating bands approach the bandwidth specification of the n77/78/79 bands, respectively. The measured peak gains and antenna efficiencies are close to 3.0 dBi / 80 % and 3.8 dBi / 50 % across n77/78/79 bands, respectively. And, the measured envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is less than 0.2 across the operating bands for this MIMO antenna array.
