Empirical study on the effectiveness of adopting software quality frameworks in the Egyptian software industry

Abstract

To gain a competitive edge in the global market of software development, Egyptian software organizations strive to improve the quality and efficiency of their processes through implementing software quality assurance frameworks. This paper focuses on quality models inside Egyptian software organizations, using CMMI as one popular example, and describing the process areas and measures deemed particularly effective by professionals in the industry. Then it describes common challenges faced by professionals, and provides recommendations on how to alleviate these issues, especially since these local software organizations do not have a mechanism for data-sharing or information exchange to benefit from their different experiences.
