Abstract

Nonlinear optical (NLO) polymers are of considerable interest for photonics applications due to their fast NLO response time, low cost, ease of fabrication, favorable material characteristics for high-speed modulation, and potentially large nonlinear second-order susceptibility. These materials can readily be formed into thin films fabricated by standard microelectronic techniques. Photonic modulators with bandwidths as high as 110 GHz have recently been reported.1
