Abstract

The disadvantages of the existing formalized methods of electrical loads calculation and selection of electrical equipment are considered. The application practice of methods for assessing the higher harmonic components influence on power electrical equipment is given. An approach for electrical loads calculation and selection of electrical equipment using well-known theoretical principles and methods for estimating the effect of higher harmonics on electrical equipment is proposed. At electric load calculation it's proposed to use the concept: power factor, displacement power factor and distortion power. Additionally at selection of electrical power equipment it's proposed to use the concept: derating factor for power transformers and correction coefficient for power cables.
