LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT: REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA/ REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA – PARALLELS

Abstract

An attempt is made in the article for the conducting of a comparative analysis according to the constitutions of the two countries and the relevant legislative acts in the field of local self-government. An emphasis is placed on the differences, which highlight the time-space variations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia: the republic of Bulgaria a member state of the European Union /EU/ since 2007, and the republic of Macedonia, although being a candidate for an associate member of the EU since 2004, finding itself outside its boundaries due to unsettled historical/ideological matters.
