Abstract

In this paper, the Transformation Electromagnetics (TE) technique is used to overcome the size and bandwidth constrains of discone antenna in lower frequencies of the operating band. The simulations are done by COMSOL considering two possible cases; on a virtually large antenna with homogenous material and on a physically finite antenna filled with designed material distribution. The results show good agreement between the specification of these two antennas and illustrate that by assuming a constant efficiency, antenna dimensions are become 65% smaller.
