Abstract

Synthesis and optical characterization of organogold complexes bearing substituted fluorenyl moieties are described. Certain complexes are white-light emitters. Ancillary ligands modulate rate constants of radiative and nonradiative decay, and of intersystem crossing. Density-functional theory calculations indicate emission from excited states centered on the carbanionic ligands.
