Abstract
A backward-wave oscillator (BWO) based on quasi-parallel-plate (QPP) slow-wave structure (SWS) is investigated. The high-frequency characteristics of the SWS are calculated, and the performance of the BWO is predicted through particle-in-cell method. By utilizing wire-EDM technique, the QPP SWS is fabricated. The preliminary experimental results are reported in this paper.
