Abstract

A model for fusing the output of multiple segmentation modules is presented. The model is based on the particle system approach to modeling dynamic objects from computer graphics. The model also has built-in capabilities to extract regions, thin the edge image, remove "twigs," and close gaps in the contours. The model functions both as an effective data fusion technique and as a model of an important human visual process.
