Road map to the future

Abstract

A number of questions relating to the future of concrete pavement technology are guiding a project to develop a far-reaching road map to tomorrow's concrete pavements. Under the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century, the U.S. Congress authorized the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to undertake a research program to improve the performance of concrete pavements. This article describes the ongoing efforts of the Long-Term Plan for Concrete Pavement Research and Technology, being developed under the FHWA's Concrete Pavement Technology Program.
