Abstract

The super-fast growth in recording areal density and the correlative decrease of the exterior dimension has been greatly beneficial to the widespread use of hard disk drives (HDDs). In the pursuit of high areal recording density, the heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) has been promised to be a new and feasible technology for the next generation of HDDs.
