California's Groundwater Issues

Abstract

Groundwater is essential for human life, especially during drought. California is one of the highest consumers of groundwater and has depleted significant amounts during the past decade. This paper tries to analyze the reasons behind the depletion of this water reservoir, particularly the ones related to state and federal policies. It proves that this water source should be protected to preserve some for domestic and agricultural use in the future.
