New method of level of service estimation for two-lane rural roads in Poland

Abstract

Research on a new method for level of service estimation and assessment on long sections of two-lane two-directional rural roads in Poland is reported in the paper. Mean speed, its standard deviation, and 95th percentile of passenger car speed distribution have been chosen as level of service measures. Mathematical models to estimate their values were developed by means of factor analysis and multiple regression application. The models are expected to be useful for road planning and designing.
