Abstract
The system of satellite television broadcasting that is being established is designed for reception of television programmes directly from the satellite to the individual home receiver which is not ,expensive, and affordable to a wide range of users. As it is known, such systems allow to sharply reduce the costs of delivering the programmes tO subscriber as compared to the ground television networks when it is necessary to build high towers covering a vast territory as well as to establish connections between these towers. The advantage of satellite systems is especially noticeable in servicing the territories with low population density which is typical for Russia. In covering the territory with ground transmitters only a part of the allocated frequency range may be used due to mutual interferences between the transmitters. In average within each territory of Russia not more than 3-6 channels may be used whereas the satellite system allows to use several dozens of channels. The digital transmission gives the figure 4-8 times bigger.
