Joint Russian-Belarusian Strategic Exercise "West-2021": Scale, Goals, Design, Course, Reactions Abroad

Abstract

The article is devoted to the joint Russian-Belarusian strategic exercise "Zapad-2021" - the second largest exercise in the entire post-Soviet history of the Russian army. It tells about the history of the «Zapad» exercise, the locations and the scale of the «Zapad-2021» exercise, the objectives, the concept of the exercise and its course, as well as the reaction to it in NATO and in the countries bordering on Belarus.
