Abstract

Though early in its development, quantum computing is now available on real hardware and via the cloud through IBM Quantum. This radically new kind of computing holds open the possibility of solving some problems that are now and perhaps always will be intractable for "classical" computers. As with any new technology things are developing rapidly but there are still a lot of open questions. What is the status of Quantum computers today? What are the key metrics we need to look at to improve a Quantum System? What are some of the technical opportunities being looked at from an EDA perspective. We will look at the Quantum Roadmap for the next couple of years and outline challenges that need to be solved and how the EDA community can potentially contribute to solve these challenges.
