Pediatric Visual Acuity: A Review and Clinical Strategy

Abstract

Measuring and analyzing pediatric visual acuity is specialty level care within the spectrum of pediatric eye and vision care. Vision development, child development in the context of testability, and examiner ability to manage child behavior drive test selection and success in obtaining a valid representation of the child’s true visual acuity. A broad array of tests, test methods, and strategies to obtain valid VA results are required. Analyzing the result of a visual acuity test involves judging its validity and rating it on a developmental scale.
