Abstract

Large scale integration of renewable energy sources is challenging the stability of the power systems. The variability of these sources (especially of wind farms) is the main aspect which affects the system security and operation. Considering the unpredictability of these sources, the variations of the loads and the new paths of supply new tools of analysis are necessary. In this paper a new application for large wind farm integration in nowadays power system using stochastic power flow approach and random contingency analysis is presented. As a case study, the Romanian power system with large wind farm integration in the Moldavia region is analyzed.
