Exposition of E-Healthcare and E-Referral Systems and the role of Machine Learning

Abstract

Digital services have made lives easier and more convenient by optimally and comprehensively being subsumed in diverse domains, of which healthcare is the most prominent and widely accessed sector. The digital revolution has transformed the traditional healthcare industry through e-healthcare, electronic health records or EHRs, and e-referrals. E-referral is an electronic service that suggests, manages, and connects various health (center) referrals through a common electronic framework. This paper highlights the less charted area of e-referral, various methodologies to implement it, related security concerns, and the role of machine learning in efficiently administering the e-referral system.
