WASTE MANAGEMENT AS A TOOL TO PRESERVE THE SENSETIVE ECOSYSTEM OF THE AL- BAHA REGION IN SAUDI ARABIA

Abstract

Interest in waste management and recycling, together with the effective and wise use of energy and water was progressively increased in Saudi Arabia to achieve sustainability and wildlife conservation in its sensitive ecosystems. The establishment of integrated waste management systems in economically and environmentally promising areas is of great attention. This work is aiming at reviewing the various methods and practices undertaken in developing countries in waste management and the rational and effective use of energy and water in sensitive ecosystem areas. Exploring the distinctive environmental elements of the Al-Baha region as one of the most important sensitive regions of the Kingdom was performed to identify undertaken waste disposal methods and their negative effects. .Several extended practices and scenarios were proposed to support effective management in maintaining the ecological balance in sensitive ecosystems.
