Housing cooperation in the USSR: ways of studying

Abstract

The article analyzes the basic tendencies of development of historiography of housing cooperation of the USSR, generated in 1920-1930th and 2000-2010th. The first trend goes back to the Soviet ideological settings, due to which the housing cooperation is considered only from the formal-legal side. In the 1940s and 1990s, no serious research on cooperation emerged. The second one is regional studies, which started to develop in early 2000s and extends the source base by means of archives’ materials, however it doesn’t allow to form concrete and historical view of the problem. There is therefore a need for a new approach to the study of the phenomenon of housing cooperation in the context of housing solutions.
