A Supporting Plan for Freshmen at the Faculty of Computer Science of Valencia

Abstract

Nowadays, one of the main problems we have to face as teachers is the current profile of the students. In some sense, today's students are indifferent to traditional teaching methodologies, and they seem to expect new ways to acquire knowledge. For that reason, an important amount of students starting university studies have a passive attitude when attending lectures. In the Faculty of Computer Science of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), during the academic year 2008–2009, we have started an integral Supporting Plan for Freshmen with the intention to motivate students in their career.
