This paper implements improved harmony search (HS) algorithm for compression of color images by minimizing the reduction in image quality. The parameters of original HS algorithms including pitch adjustment rate (PAR) and fret width (FW) are fixed, whereas in improved HS algorithm, PAR and FW changed dynamically in accordance with the generation of solution vectors.
