Optimisation in Building Performance Simulation and Obstacles Facing Its Widespread Use

Abstract

This article summarises the results of an online survey on the use of optimisation in Building Performance Simulation (BPS). The survey aims to better understand the major uses of optimisation and its tools and the obstacles that prevent the widespread use of automated optimisation in the BPS. The survey got 202 responses from researchers, building energy analysts, consultants, engineers, architects and students.
