Abstract
This paper describes the analysis of the effect of shield wires on the ground-level electric field, especially in three-dimensional arrangements, as wires crossing an AC high voltage transmission line perpendicularly or diagonally. The electric field measured for various shield wires under the UHV test transmission line was analyzed with the numerical field calculation and the approximate computation. It has been shown that the three-dimensional electric field can be obtained by combining the two-dimensional calculations for the electric field without shield wires and for the shielding efficiency in the uniform field.
