Abstract
The elimination kinetics of UV absorbing solutes during hemodialysis treatment was analyzed by means of the optoelectronic spectral sensor for non-invasive online hemodialysis monitoring; deep UV LEDs were used as the source of UV radiation at the wavelengths 285 nm (associated with uric acid) and 365 nm (associated with advanced glycation end products). The time profiles of effluent dialysate UV absorption in the course of hemodialysis treatment sessions were measured for a group of patients; the sensor was connected to the outlet of a dialysis machine. The acquired curves were assessed and fitted by the sum of two exponential functions according to the doublepool kinetic model. Variations between the parameters of the model (mainly time constants of intercompartment transfer) for different working wavelengths were analyzed.
