Abstract

This paper discusses in detail how the workplace has changed over time, suiting the needs and styles of various generations across the world since the Industrial Revolution. We also discuss what the workplace of the future would be like and how the self-management philosophy of Ricardo Semler may replace the practice of command-and-control, which didn't take into account employee satisfaction. Thus, the convergence of Semler's style, the expectations of today's work-force and Machine Learning that provides supportive and corrective functions can indeed define the organizational structure and culture required for success today and tomorrow.
