The link between Circular economy, Supply chain and Industry 4.0: mapping the Trends, Challenges and New Perspectives

Abstract

Recently, special attention has been given to revolutionary concepts such as Industry 4.0 (I4.0) and the circular economy (CE). The introduction of circular economy practices improves the economic and operational performance of the company. Similarly, Industry 4.0 has the positive potential to provide significant improvements to business operations. This article presents a state of the art of circular supply chain management (SCM) in the Industry 4.0 (I4.0) era, based on systematic literature review on recent relevant advancements in research. Then, an overview of the different frameworks and linkages between CE for supply chain in Industry 4.0 will be presented. This study is useful for both academics and professionals, as it describes the outline in the field of SCSM4.0.
