Abstract

This paper presents the design of a compact metamaterial-based MIMO antenna for 5.8 GHz WLAN applications. The proposed antenna consists of two rectangular patches placed on a low-cost FR4 substrate. A series of metamaterial absorber unit cells are integrated between the two antenna elements to attain a high isolation level of 50 dB.
