Abstract
The nature and structure of the mental lexicon, as well as the process of speech reproduction, are hot topics in cognitive linguistics and other related disciplines. The results of research by scientists in this field have a significant contribution to the fight against aphasia. In this publication, we will consider the results of an experiment with 58 bilinguals to measure two psycholinguistic parameters of Tuvan words: representability and similarity of an image with a picture. Word representability determines how easily and quickly the respondent can imagine the stimulus word. In case of a speech disorder, the higher the value of this parameter for a word, the higher the probability of its preservation or restoration in the patient’s mental lexicon. The parameter “similarity of the image with the picture” reflects how the picture is equivalent to what the informant imagines when he reads the word. This parameter is important in the selection of stimulus material for speech therapy.
