Abstract

The penetration of distributed generation sources into transmission systems faces many reliability challenges, especially in the distance protection operation. The key issue discussed and associated with DG on distance protection is the reduction in reach of distance relay. This paper analyses the distance relay behavior without and with the presence of a distributed generation. Therefore, an application for a real Tunisian transmission system is simulated using the DigSILENT software. The Simulation results are discussed and illustrated. In addition, we propose a solution to increase the reliability of the power system.
