Abstract

In this paper, the possible improvement of the statistical homogeneity and isotropy of the electromagnetic field inside the working volume of a reverberation chamber by two hemispherical diffractors is analyzed experimentally. The hemispheres are made from copper and have a diameter that equals about the third of the wavelength at the lowest usable frequency. Four different configurations are analyzed: no diffractor, one diffractor mounted at a wall, one diffractor mounted at the ground and both diffractors mounted. The main result is that no improvement of the statistical uniformity can be observed.
