An Application that Invites Users to Participate in Developing Repository of Bahasa Indonesia

Abstract

Language repositories are useful in natural language processing as a testing or playing field during development of algorithms. Language repositories are important in general as references. Repository in Bahasa Indonesia is scarce, so its development is necessary. This paper discusses an application that is potential as a tool to build repository in Bahasa by involving the participation of its users. An application was developed that would have a large number of active users. A pop-up box in the application intermittently appears containing an expression that encourages users to participate in building a repository. The impact of the application has been investigated using Gable’s IS Impact. Surveyed users have stated that the system quality is fair (scored 3.6 out of 5 in Gable IS Impact) and useful (scored 4). Hence, the potential is strong for the application to be used in repository building.
