Abstract

This paper presents a study of steady state stability of the Moroccan Power system using bifurcation analysis. More specifically, local bifurcation is considered since, unlike global bifurcation, the system can be analyzed entirely through changes in adequate local stability property of equilibrium for specific buses. The stability property used in this paper is the voltage, as this parameter becomes more and more important in assessing system stability after a series of outage and blackout faults caused by voltage collapse happened worldwide which highlighted the severity of voltage instability. The analysis is applied for the whole Moroccan power system in order to identify the weakest buses, which will serve as reference of the study of stability with regards different scenarios of renewable energy power plants generation. The outcome of this study, which consists of identification of potential stability problems and technical solutions to overcome them, will allow to have a full idea of the behavior of Moroccan Network before and after implementing the different energy strategies and plans of the country up to 2020.
