The microgrid is capable of functioning in either grid-connected or isolated modes of operation. A passive islanding detection method is utilized to switch over from PQ to V/F control mode, when islanding is detected. Abstract
The MATLAB Simulink model of a microgrid model is described in this paper. The microgrid model consists of a converter-fed distributed generator photovoltaic array with maximum power point tracking, a converter-fed battery storage system and a critical load which must be fed power in all circumstances. The microgrid is capable of functioning in either grid-connected or isolated modes of operation.
