Abstract
The main objective of this work is to analyze the effect of transducer directivity on the accuracy of a 2D ultrasound positioning system, based on time domain measurements. The analysis is carried out using both simulations and experimental verifications, aiming at assessing the system robustness and performance in a practical scenario. The experimental verification is performed using a microcontroller-based setup with low-cost piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers. The results show that the positioning performance becomes worse when the effect of directivity is prominent.
