Abstract

A connection has been found between load power, harmonic distortion factor and the necessary current value of the single-phase and three-phase shunt active power filters for correction of the power factor up to 1. The obtained relations are graphically presented. A three-phase shunt active power filter (APF) operating in combination with different types of load for the source network is studied by means of computer simulation (PSpice). Simulation results that explain filter operation, as well as the spectral characteristics of the source current of the investigated loads operating with and without the filter, are included.
