On the query translation in federative relational databases

Abstract

The authors address the problem of query translation in a federative relational database system, and present a new method to specify semantic correspondences and data mappings. Several algorithms are described and discussed in detail, which can be used to translate queries automatically even if the local databases have data and schema conflicts.
