Abstract
As the use of the power grid has become more integral to everyday society, a growing momentum towards a more dynamic power system resides on the horizon. With the invention of renewable and distributed energy resources, this push is beginning to become a reality. However, these resources are mainly implemented stationary designs. In this paper, the authors explore the possibility of implementing these resources into a Mobile On/Off Grid Battery Energy Storage System (MOGBESS). This system implements a hybrid inverter and a battery energy storage system (BESS), which is then integrated through an external primary controller. The system is then configured into a portable chassis that implements plug-and-play connectivity. Such a design considers both the consideration of the original stationary design and the mobile system, which includes system control and communication, operational power, and mobile protection.
