Historical vs concurrent approaches to development

"Abstract: Gestalt therapy theory has generally had to borrow a developmental conception from other theories. This article considers the differences between historical and concurrent approaches to development, and makes the case for utilising a concurrent approach to development. Kegan’s theory of development is presented as an example of a concurrent approach. The application of this approach is illustrated in a case example.
