This study uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all students of class X SMK Negeri 2 Bengkulu City, amounting to 340 students. The sample in this study used purposive simple sampling, which is a sample based on consideration of certain criteria with a sample size of 52 students. The data collection technique used documentation techniques Novia Fitri Yanti, Didi Yulistio, Agus Joko Purwadi 340 Jurnal Ilmiah Korpus, Vol. 4(3), 2020 in the form of a poetry writing test that was done by students. The ability to write poetry with the theme of the Covid-19 pandemic is assessed from five aspects, namely the suitability of the theme and content of the poetry, choice of words or diction, imagination, language style and rhyme / rhythm. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive statistics by calculating the average value. The results of this study indicate that the average ability to write poetry with the Covid-19 pandemic in class X SMK Negeri 2 Bengkulu City is 62.52 in the sufficient category. The average ability of students to write poetry with the theme of the Covid-19 pandemic based on the suitability of the theme and the content of the poetry was 19.03 with a good category. The average ability of students to write poetry with the theme of the Covid-19 pandemic based on the aspect of word choice or diction was 12.63 in the sufficient category. The average ability of students to write poetry with the theme of the Covid-19 pandemic based on the image aspect is 13.19 in a good category. The average ability of students to write poetry with the theme of the Covid-19 pandemic based on the aspect of language style is 11.31 in the sufficient category. The average ability of students to write poetry with the theme of the Covid-19 pandemic based on the rhyme / rhythm aspect was 6.31 in the sufficient category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the students' ability to write poetry is in the sufficient category where students still have difficulty writing poetry based on the building blocks of poetry.
