Abstract

The Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) is used to mitigate power quality disturbances that may arise in power distribution network. It compensates voltage or current harmonics and other disturbances that may arise due to nonlinear load and provides reliable power to the load. In this paper, Bio-geography based Optimization (BBO) - based feedback PI controller has been designed for shunt active control filter. This BBO based PI controller improves the dynamic response of the UPQC compared to conventional PI controller.
