Studies in Critical Thinking

Abstract

Critical thinking is not a new topic.However,an empirical approach to the definition of what critical thinking is and how it might be evaluated and cultivated has not been properly discussed in Chinese educational market.With reference to the world famous theories and research in the field of critical thinking,and assisted by illuminating anecdotes and the writer's teaching experience,this article has brought to light what a critical thinking is,how it might be suffocated due to the institutional or personal defects and why it is important in the construction of a democratic,rational and prosperous community.
