Abstract

This paper presents the gain enhancement of a microstrip patch antenna using superstrate. Superstrate with $8 \times 8$ unit structures operating at 11.75 GHz is studied. The proposed superstrate structure with patch antenna exhibits a gain of 12.686 dBi in the operating range, which is 5.1 dB more than a conventional patch antenna. Improved cross polarisation level is also observed.
