Research on the Improvement of Citizen's Scientific Literacy and Its Contribution to Economic Growth in Mainland China

Abstract

Based on the human capital theory and the related data from 1999 to 2015 in mainland Chin. This paper uses the TFP model to analyze the relationship between the improvement of citizen's scientific literacy and economic growth. The analysis shows that the contribution of capital investment to economic growth is the main factor. There is evidenced a significant positive effect of citizen's scientific literacy on the nations economic growth along with the significant effect of the improvement of the peoples physical health on economic growth. The article also analyzes the impact of economic growth from the four aspects of the composition of scientific literacy, those are scientific knowledge, scientific method, scientific attitude and the relationship between science and society. The four aspects of the formation of scientific quality have significant and different effects on economic growth.
