The issue of tracheotomy tubes and swallowing has been a topic of ongoing interest and concern for clinicians who work with this patient population. The following article will review evidence regarding the effects of tracheotomy tubes on swallowing as well as information to guide clinicians who perform swallowing evaluations with patients with tracheotomy tubes.
