The addition of high index layers and elliptical nesting on our optimized structure improved the birefringence by nearly one order: highest value is 2.6×10−4 at 1520 nm wavelength and maintains a birefringence level of > 1×10−4 for 100 nm bandwidth. It also achieves a lowest confinement loss of 6.33×10−3 dB/m at 1520 nm by covering a range of 200 nm within which loss remains < 1 dB/m. Moreover, the presented fiber claims very low bending loss of 9.06×10−3 dB/m at a short bend radius (6 cm) and maintains a bending loss of < 0.01 dB/m from 4 cm bend radius to onwards.
