Abstract

A new 2D quasi-optical slab beam power-combining array is introduced. A key part in the design is the Yagi-Uda like coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed directed antennas. The antennas are used to excite the dominant TM in the slab waveguide. The simulated insertion loss for a three-elements and four-elements based array is better than −4 dB. The proposed design has the advantage of being planar with only one dielectric layer being used, and it is compatible with MMIC fabrication techniques.
