Extreme oil [Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan project]

Abstract

This paper discusses the economic, environmental and social issues that have been raised over the construction of the $2.9 B Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline. Built to save the West from Middle Eastern oil-dependence, the 42-in wide, 1000 mile long pipeline aims to transport up to a million barrels of oil every day to the eastern Mediterranean port of Ceyhan.
