Firstly, the development of STATCOM and controlled reactor are expounded. The advantages and disadvantages among three kinds STATCOM are compared. Secondly, the STATCOM topology structure based on multilevel inverters and controlled reactor is introduced. Thirdly, the control method between multilevel inverters and controlled reactor is analyzed. Abstract
Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) is one of the key device and key technology of FACTS. It can not only compensate the reactive power of electric power system, but also improve the property of steady state and dynamic state. This paper presents a STATCOM based on controlled reactor because of the STATCOM being used at present has some disadvantages. Then it can compensate much more reactive power more flexibly. Firstly, the development of STATCOM and controlled reactor are expounded. The advantages and disadvantages among three kinds STATCOM are compared. Secondly, the STATCOM topology structure based on multilevel inverters and controlled reactor is introduced.
